Minnie Miñoso Autographed Baseball

Minnie Miñoso, born Saturnino Orestes Armas Miñoso Arrieta, on November 29, 1922 in Havana, Cuba is a former star left fielder in Major League Baseball. He had earlier been a standout third baseman in the Negro Leagues, and would later play several seasons in Mexican baseball.

He was nicknamed “The Cuban Comet” as well as “Mr. White Sox”, and while playing in Mexico was “El Charro Negro” — “The Black Cowboy”. He is one of just two players in major league history to play in five separate decades (1940s-80s), the other being Nick Altrock. With brief appearances with the independent Northern League’s St. Paul Saints in 1993 and 2003, Miñoso is the only player to have played professionally in 7 different decades. He was also the last major leaguer to have played in the 1940s to play a major league game.

On May 1, 1951, in a game against the New York Yankees in Comiskey Park, the speedy Miñoso became the first black player to wear a White Sox uniform. In his major league career, and despite not playing regularly until he was 28 because of his race, Miñoso hit for a .298 batting average, with 186 home runs, 1023 RBI, 1136 runs, 1963 hits, 336 doubles, 83 triples, 205 stolen bases, 814 walks and 192 hit by pitch. His career ended with a .389 on base percentage and a .459 slugging average, combined for a solid .848 OPS. He was a 7-time All-Star. For his excellence in left field, he received the Gold Glove Award three times. He led his league in triples and stolen bases three times each. Ten times he led his league in hit by pitch; Miñoso is 9th all-time in the category.

In November 2005, Miñoso’s name was placed on a special ballot of Negro League players to be voted upon by a special committee of Negro Leagues historians and scholars, though he did not win induction. Miñoso remains on the Veterans Committee ballot for the Hall of Fame as of 2006.

I also had the honor of meeting Mr. Minoso at the 2010 Joe DiMaggio Legends Game, and i can tell you this much about him. He’s a classly guy and a great person to talk to. I wish i could spend a whole day with him, just talking baseball and life. Thank you minnie!! And yes i have a man crush on you…lol

Johnny Blanchard Autographed Bat

Johnny was a professional baseball player who played in the Major Leagues primarily as an outfielder and catcher from 1955 and 1959-1965. A defensive liability for the New York Yankees for most of his career, Blanchard is probably best-known for his play in the 1961 World Series. He hit 2 home runs in that series against the Cincinnati Reds and batted .400 for the entire series. In his career, Blanchard appeared in the World Series 5 times for the Yankees and holds the Major League record with ten World Series pinch-hit at-bats. Blanchard was the catcher who called the pitch that Bill Mazeroski hit for the first-ever series ending home run off Ralph Terry in the 1960 World Series in which the Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the heavily favored Yankees. Johnny passed away on March 25, 2009. R.I.P. Johnny.

1955 World Series MVP……

Here we go again this past week i went a little crazy and started to buy a bunch of autographed stuff, this being one of those piece. But a have for any collector out there, a Johnny Poddres autographed baseball. I know i just started collecting Brooklyn Dodgers stuff but i plan to try to get a ball signed by each of at least 8 memebers for that club.

John Joseph Podres (September 30, 1932 — January 13, 2008) was an American left-handed starting pitcher in Major League Baseball who spent most of his career with the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers. He is perhaps best remembered for being named the Most Valuable Player of the 1955 World Series, pitching a shutout in Game 7 against the New York Yankees to help bring the Dodgers their first World Series title. He later led the National League in earned run average and shutouts in 1957, and in winning percentage in 1961.

Dale Murphy autographed ball…..

One of the most talented and complete players of the 1980s, Dale Murphy won two Most Valuable Player Awards and clubbed 398 homers while maintaining a squeeky-clean image. He was one of the most respected and popular stars of his era. He led the National League in homers, RBI, and slugging twice each.

I watch allot of Dale growing up on TBS…. I really don’t know why he isn’t in the Hall of Fame but hopefully one day he’ll get in. He won five gold gloves out in center field and a two time MVP for the NL. Plus a seven time all-star, that’s why when i saw this ball i had to have it……

Welcome Homies…..

Well i finally give in and started this blog. I always wanted to start a blog where i could show off allot of my pieces in my collection and gives other the chance to show off their’s. I asked someone if i could join up with there memorabilia blog but i got shot down fast. And here’s the end result of that, The Hall of Memorabilia . Were I and hopefully other will join to check out some of the cool pieces in their collections. All you have to do is let me know you wanna be part of the site and I’ll give you all the info.
